PROTECTING
PRECIOUS LIVES

ADVOCATE AGAINST CHILD ABUSE

As human beings, we each are born with rights to freedom and safety. Heartbreakingly, 90% of Child Abuse Victims know their abuser, and 65% of Child Abuse Victims experience PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). With safety as the mental position of every Crescent Pilot, we had to act when we learned of so many individuals living in dangerous situations fearing for their lives. Visiting Hope House for the first time, we discovered an environment that feels gentle and safe with a tangible sense of calm assurance.

Children’s Advocacy Center

1 IN 10 CHILDREN
ARE ABUSED

Dedicated to ending the cycle of child abuse in our community, Hope House provides a path to recovery and a bridge to justice for victims of child abuse. CAC Hope House provides forensic interviewing, family advocacy, counseling services, and prevention outreach within St. Tammany and Washington parishes. Hope House provides a welcoming cottage environment filled with the warmth of cuddly teddy bears and specially designed areas for gentle conversations.

STATE MANDATED SERVICES RELY ON PRIVATE FUNDING

All children reporting child abuse are mandated by the state to visit a Children’s Advocacy Center. Forensic interviews and evidence are collected to help the child receive justice. This is the only legally admissible evidence allowed in court, making the work of Hope House critical to protecting children. Even though this work is a state mandate all necessary funding must be raised through community donors.

HOW CRESCENT
PILOTS HELP

Counseling services and prevention outreach are key. We funded a clinical professional for the summer that provided for 30 child victims of abuse to recover from PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and begin to experience the joy of being a child again. Prevention outreach funding also ensured that 1,000 children receive age specific child abuse education. This education is designed so that kindergarten students learn abuse facts in terms they can understand while high school students learn abuse facts relative to their age group.

STOP HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Classified as the second largest international crime, Louisiana has been identified as an area with a high level of human trafficking activity. CRPPF is supporting organizations that help to fund homes for victims to feel secure until they are able to maintain a more stable life. Victims are taught job skills, life management, and are provided with health services so they can achieve their full potential, build confidence, and break the cycle of dependence.

METANOIA

A one-of-a-kind refuge built for adolescent victims of trafficking.

Metanoia is a place of recovery where caring adults help terribly damaged children heal emotionally, physically and spiritually. This safe environment fosters learning and prepares survivors to function in society when they reach adulthood.

BROKENNESS

“These children no longer see themselves as a person, but they see themselves as objects,” Reverend Bayhi says. “In the sight of God we are meant to be so much more.”

HOW CRESCENT PILOTS HELP

Protecting the lives of children is a priority for Crescent Pilots as it is for so many others. When we heard the rally cry to donate to help build this special place, we responded with a resounding YES. We love being a part of the spirit that Louisiana's people bring to those in great need.

LOUISIANA FOSTERS

Family is the most important building block in society, yet each month, Louisiana serves more than 4,700 foster children. More than 50 percent of these children are under the age of five. We want to connect kids to families so they can be loved and have the safety and security of a home. Children deserve caregivers who convey love and acceptance.

WHO THEY ARE

Louisiana Fosters is a state-wide campaign focused on Louisiana's children sponsored by First Lady Donna Edwards to create a united link between government, faith, non-profit, business and community for our state's foster care system.

ENCOURAGING PARENTS

Louisiana Fosters encourages foster parents to co-parent with the birth parents to ensure the best outcomes for children and youth. They seek to give a voice to the caregiver in the everyday decisions for a child.

HOW CRESCENT PILOTS HELP

With 4,000 Louisiana children in foster care an initiative has been launched to inform Louisiana’s four thousand churches about this need. “One Church, One Family, One Child” will help precious children find loving homes. Crescent Pilots are providing funds to help get this initiative off the ground and running.

Our mission is to help the hurting. When a man walks into our facility needing help or when we rescue someone from a dangerous place, we don’t see a homeless person, or an addict. What we see is a man experiencing a shattered life and a broken heart, within our safe environment and with biblical direction transformation can occur.
